I had the pleasure of getting a chance to read a debut novel by John Hunt aptly named the Doll House, it starts off as a benign beginning. That exciting and scary time in a parents life where you see your child off at university
and then it abruptly slips into the worse nightmare any parent would endure, A kidnapping of your child. Imagine having an experience that should have been bittersweet turn into a dark journey, where a young girl on the cusp of adulthood is plunged into a cat and mouse game with her captors. What I enjoyed about this novel, is the slow build of tension and subtle hints as to who Jackal is, you are kept guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this debut novel to anyone who enjoys a thriller that is well written and not over the top in violence.

I sit here on the cusp of finishing a long day of work. I am exhausted. I know I should be writing. I currently have two projects on the go but I find myself struggling lately with putting the words down. Literally with getting the words from brain to laptop. I think I am self-editing as I write rather than writing. The other issue is being on all day from 9 am to 8pm working on the computer, the idea of having to write after transcribing dictations all day is just not appealing.
